  • Research
  • Location scouting
    eg. for reconstruction scenes. ("saigen")
  • Setting up filming permission
    for museums, art galleries, private houses, parks, castles, universities, special events, interviews etc.
  • Transport
    I drive my own 5-seater Skoda Kodiaq with plenty of luggage space, which can accommodate crews of up to 4 people plus myself. For larger crews I can organise a bigger vehicle with driver
  • Interpreting & translation
    for interviews, narration information etc.
  • Hiring local staff & facilities
    (camera operator, sound recordist, hair/make-up artist, lighting electrician, grip, drone operator; camera equipment, lighting equipment, helicopters, grip equipment such as dollies or cranes etc.)
  • Casting of local actors
    & extras, hiring of props & costumes etc.
  • Acquiring archive film material
    eg. from BBC, Reuters etc., or stills images from picture libraries; clearing permission for their use in Japanese TV programmes.
  • Organizing accommodation and meals etc & generally looking after the crew & celebrities

  • If necessary, appearing in front of the camera myself! I have appeared a few times as a presenter/reporter for Japanese TV programmes.


  • Accompanying UK TV crews to Japan:
    • Despite having spent many decades working with Japanese TV crews in UK and other countries, for the first time in January 2023 I did the reverse: I worked with a UK TV crew on location in Kumamoto, Kyushu, in the south of Japan! This was with Bluefin TV, a UK-based production company, the director being Ant Leake, the CEO. We did a feature on Eiichi Ohmura, a diabetic since childhood, who became an internationally renowned aerobic gymnast.

    So I would welcome the opportunity of accompanying UK crews wishing to film in Japan, where I have many contacts built up during my long years working with Japanese TV production companies.

Basically, anything you want I can fix!

Just to let you all know that I haven’t retired: I’m still working full time and am very much alive! So I’m looking forward to the chance of working with you, my loyal old clients, and of working with new clients too.
