INTERCULTURAL EXCHANGE COORDINATOR

Aside from the TV work I can also organize programmes for specialist groups, eg for students, youth workers etc. For 22 years I interpreted for Japanese youth leader groups visiting the UK every autumn, and for 5 years I organized programmes for Japanese university students to UK.



Here is an example of a tour I have organized:
 
UNIVERSITY GROUP TOUR
DAY1
Group arrive Heathrow in the afternoon.
Drive up to Leicester and check in hotel.
DAY2
Morning Meet UK and Japanese students studying at Leicester University.
Sporting activities & games with UK students at sports centre.

Lunch College Hall.
Afternoon Tour of campus, Leicester Museum etc.
Split up into small groups, Japanese students with UK students, and explore Leicester city centre together.
Evening Dine at Curry House Indian restaurant in Asian area for Indian meal with UK students.
DAY3
Morning Presentation on Leicester & area at College Hall.
Discussion/presentations etc in smaller groups.

Lunch Country pub with UK students.
Afternoon Go to Warwick Castle.
Evening Dinner in College Hall.
Japan Night, College Hall.
DAY4
Morning Leave Leicester. Drive to Cambridge.
Meet UK students and visit Queens' College, King's College.

Lunch Split up into small groups for lunch.
Afternoon Brass Rubbing activity.
Leave Cambridge for London.
Evening Football match Spurs v Fulham.
DAY5
Morning City tour of London with Japanese guide.
Lunch Italian restaurant.
Afternoon Continue city tour: British Museum etc.
Free time in central London OR return by bus to youth hostel.
Evening Dinner at Youth hostel.
Musical, Phantom of the Opera.
DAY6
Morning Tour of BBC TV Centre.
Lunch Free.
Afternoon Free time in London.
Leave London for Gillingham, Kent by bus.
Evening Dinner at Youth hostel.
DAY7
Morning Presentation & orientation about the work of Groundwork, an environmental conservation organization.
Lunch Buffet lunch at Groundwork.
Afternoon Work on environmental projects with UK young people.
Evening Dinner at Youth hostel.
DAY8
Morning Arrive Groundwork & environmental projects with UK young people.
Lunch Packed lunches from youth hostel.
Afternoon After finishing Groundwork, get ready for Japan Night, where the Japanese students introduce various Japanese cultural activities to the UK young people & instructors.
Evening Japan Night.

Morning Meet host families
Home stay programme.
DAY10

Home stay programme.

Morning Return to London by tour bus.
Visit to youth project in East End of London.
Talk about work of CBS, meet the youngsters etc.

Lunch Abigail's Restaurant
Afternoon Free.
Evening Flight on the London Eye. Farewell dinner at Mandarin Kitchen Chinese Restaurant.
DAY12
Morning Evaluation of tour.
Free time.

Lunch Free.
Afternoon Leave for Heathrow Airport.
